Ordering panel batteries

We’re currently only taking online orders for panel batteries. Bay Alarm will charge a $60 flat fee plus tax to your next account invoice, which covers the cost of the battery plus shipping.

Some systems require a Bay Alarm technician to change the battery. Please read the requirements at the bottom of this page to see if you’re able to replace the battery yourself—or if you need to schedule a service appointment. If your system does not qualify, we will cancel your order and send you an email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find my account number?

Your account number is at the top of every Bay Alarm invoice.

Can I change my own battery?

Not all systems have batteries that customers can replace. Bay Alarm retained systems (systems that the customer leases) and systems that are self-contained in the keypad need a technician to replace the internal battery. How frequently should I change my battery?

We recommend changing the battery every 5 years from the manufacture date, if your system displays a low battery warning, or when a Bay Alarm Technician tests the battery and says it needs replacing.

How do I know my battery is low?

When your battery falls below the charge threshold, your keypad will display a low battery message and then send a signal to our central station.

If you recently had a power outage and your keypad is displaying a low battery message, please wait 24 hours after the power has been restored to allow the system to recharge the battery. If you have any questions, please call us on 1 (800) 470-1000 and select option 4 for Technical Support.

I’m confused about what type of system I have. How do I know if I can replace my own battery or not?

If you have a panel box, you can change your own battery. These boxes are typically in the garage or a closet space near your entry keypad for residential systems and in your electrical or fire closet for commercial systems. Call us at 1 (800) 470-1000 and we can help figure out what system you have.
