Marj and Everett Westphal—pictured—started Bay Alarm in 1946 as a two-person operation run out of a kitchen in Oakland, California. Their focus on quality and service has guided the company ever since, and we’re now the largest independently owned security business in the United States. The Westphal family has remained committed to investing in Bay Alarm, supporting our employees, and protecting our customers. Today, Marj and Everett’s grandson Tim Westphal runs Bay Alarm as owner and CEO.
