Bay Alarm, Celebrating Its 75th Anniversary, Urges Businesses & Homeowners to Protect Themselves in Wake of Soaring Burglaries.
Company Known for its Security Expertise Offers Tips on How to Prevent Being a Victim.
CONCORD, CALIF. – Even though the CDC has eased its pandemic guidance, many businesses haven’t fully reopened. Break-ins at businesses across the California, Arizona, and Washington continue to climb.
The good news: Bay Alarm, the largest independently owned and operated security company in the U.S., which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, has a couple of tips to help prevent businesses from becoming victims of commercial crime.
“First, have a comprehensive security review of your property by a security professional. Identifying vulnerabilities is the first step in creating a comprehensive security plan,” says Tim Westphal, COO of Bay Alarm.
Next, because they are unable to respond to every alarm, law enforcement in many communities either prioritizes or even requires verification of a crime in progress before dispatching police to the scene. “That’s why protecting your business with live remote video monitoring (LRVM) has become more important than ever. Not only are we able to verify an intruder and expedite a response, but verification also virtually eliminates false alarms,” says Westphal.

We’ve gone from alarm codes printed on ticker tape in my grandfather Everett’s days to my dad Roger and uncle Bruce pioneering the development of a fully digital operation, to where we’re at today. We have cameras with onboard artificial intelligence that can accurately identify an intruder, send live video to a monitoring agent, where we can alert authorities and verbally engage the intruder, stopping crime before it starts.”
But it’s not all about technology. “One of the main reasons we’ve been able to be successful is our family values and our commitment to training and customer service.” Says Westphal. Do your best every time and treat people the way you want to be treated is still the family mantra.
“Who knows, in the future, maybe not too far off, we may be able to have one of our monitoring agents dispatch a drone to provide visibility into areas not covered by fixed cameras.”
